Search Engine Optimization

by Glen Rostie

An Office Business Center’s Blog is an excellent way of placing your office center in the right light and care should be taken in writing the correct information located in it. However, great writing is not the only way of putting your company on the map. Other techniques include the use of search engine optimization that emphasizes the use of keywords for improving your website’s visibility. Below is a quick look on how SEO can help your website get better rankings.

Great Title

A great title helps drive interest, informs and describes what a reader should expect from your blog or article; but placing a keyword in the title is excellent for helping readers locate your blogs even faster. Readers use a set of words when searching for a specific topic, using keywords in your titles gives your articles a better chance of being placed high in search engine results.

Appropriate Meta Description

Most blogs contain an area to enter a description.
Search engines like Google use meta-descriptions as a way for locating blogs or articles. Conversely, only the first part of the meta-description is read by search engines so be sure to keep this within 160 characters. To understand meta-descriptions better, imagine this as a brief summary of the article that includes some of the relevant keywords for your blog.

Categories and Main Keywords

Categories help users locate blogs better and direct them to proper sources of information. Categories should be placed on the blog modules that are specific to the blogs. A set of 5-8 categories is sufficient with each category incorporating one of the keywords for better results. I like to use the primary keywords for my business as much as possible like “shared office “space or meeting rooms “ and add relevant categories like New York Office News.

Using Keyword Phrases

Keywords are the “key” for better search engine results. They also help focus the writing on a specific topic, building a more relevant article in the process. Placing products or services in separate blogs helps divide the topics into separate and more informative articles for better understanding. However, be careful not to overuse keywords and use 3 at a time for each post.

H2 Header Tags

Most blog’s offer a way to tag your headings (like a newspaper) with code that the search engines use to find the most relevant words used in your post, usually the heading or sub heading. They are broken down to H1,H2,H3 etc.

H2 Header tags serve to reinforce the title of the blog and improve search engine results. The title or H1 Header tags acts as the primary tag for searches. Using H2 tags also helps divide the article into separate paragraphs for easier reading. If you need to break the contents even further, H3 header tags could be used for subtopics.

Link Building

Internal linking helps build authority to the website’s main pages for better search engine results. Links are like traffic signs that help search engines navigate your website. Well planned links give your website higher rankings by helping Google run thru your site more smoothly. Careful attention is advised for external linking or linking your blogs to other websites as this decreases your page ranking. Consult a professional SEO with experience in your industry before planning link building.

Bullet Points

Using bullet points is an ingenious way of helping readers focus their attention on important information located on the blog. They help simplify the contents into easy to read sentences or descriptions. Bullet points also provide an avenue for placing keywords in the article.

Using Search Engine Optimization techniques can take a little bit of mastering but can pay hugely in terms of increasing your office center’s page ranking.
